St. Matthew’s will purchase a table (or 2) for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr breakfast to be held on January 21st in Westerville. There is a sign-up sheet being circulated at worship services so we’ll know how many tables we will need. We are asking, not requiring, a love gift of $35 to cover the cost of a seat at the breakfast. Anyone is welcome to attend for free. Love gifts will simply help us defray some of the costs.
We are honored that one of our own, Rev. Gayle Fisher-Stewart, Associate Rector at Calvary Episcopal Church in D.C.,
will be here in January as the featured speaker at the breakfast. The event is at Villa Milano at 1630 Schrock Road on January 21, 7:30am. Mother Gayle will also be featured at a community conversation sponsored by the Westerville Public Library on January 22, 7:00pm.
Rev. Fisher-Stewart was a part of the February 2018 Absalom Jones convocation in Cincinnati and St. Matthew’s connected her with the local MLK Legacy Project staff. Just as we were taken with Rev. Fisher-Stewart’s presence last February, the MLK Legacy Project staff also sees the powerful combination she represents as a retired D.C. police officer and now a priest with the Episcopal church.
